History

The Center for Public Health Statistics was established in March of 1999 under the strategic plan for the University of Iowa College of Public Health. CPHS is administratively designated as a collegiate center and it functions collaboratively with collegiate departments and centers, university groups, and outside entities in fulfillment of its mission.

The initial project of the CPHS was to produce the 1999 Iowa Health Fact Book. This was a highly cooperative effort, benefiting from expertise and resources of many different groups within the college, the Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) and other entities.
