Master of Science Degree Options


M.S. Degree in Agricultural Safety & Health
The Agricultural Safety and Health M.S. program will provides knowledge about the industry of agriculture and the related occupational and environmental exposures and risks. Students will gain the necessary skills for anticipation, diagnosis, exposure assessment, treatment and prevention of agricultural illnesses and injuries. Graduates of the program will be prepared for positions in education, health care, insurance and agribusinesses as agricultural safety and health specialists. 

M.S. Degree in Industrial Hygiene
The industrial hygiene M.S. program trains individuals to prevent occupational disease and injury in industry, environmental, and occupational sectors. The curriculum is designed to prepare students philosophically and technically to practice the art and science of industrial hygiene.

M.S. Degree in Occupational and Environmental Health
The Occupational and Environmental Health M.S. program prepares students for careers in environmental and occupational health. The curriculum is designed to prepare students for career opportunities in local, state, or federal health agencies and in departments of industrial health and safety in commercial enterprises and academic institutions.

    M.S. in OEH areas of focus:

  • Ergonomics

    Graduate study in the Ergonomics Training Program at the Heartland Center for Occupational Health and Safety combines the perspectives and principles of both health science and engineering.  This unique area of study provides students with the interdisciplinary knowledge and practical skills needed to solve the ergonomic challenges facing workplaces in the 21st century.

     
  • Occupational Epidemiology

    The Occupational Epidemiology Training Program at the Heartland Center prepares graduate students to meet the need for new academic faculty and practitioners in the field of Occupational Epidemiology.


M.S. Joint Degree with Urban and Regional Planning

The Department of Occupational and Environmental Health offers a joint master's degree program with the Urban and Regional Planning Program. This option leads to an M.S. in occupational and environmental health and an M.A. or M.S. in urban and regional planning. It requires a minimum of 65 s.h. of graduate credit. Separate application to each degree program is required. Applicants must be admitted to both programs before they can be admitted to the joint degree program.
