I graduated with an MS in OEH (Industrial Hygiene) in December 2004.

The company I am working for now is G-Force Engineering and Technology in Idaho Falls, ID. I am contracted out to a company called British Nuclear Fuels Limited Inc. (BNFL). The site that I am working at is called the Advanced Mixed Waste Treatment Plant (AMWTP). The process is to retrieve buried nuclear waste that has been generated at the Rocky Flatts Plant in Colorado and the Mounds site in Ohio. The waste was buried back in the 60s and 70s which now has to be retrieved in order to characterize it again and ship it to the WHIP site in New Mexico for permanent disposal.

It is a pretty interesting job because it includes chemical, physical, biological, physiological, and radiological monitoring. One of our major concerns is Beryllium, so we do a lot of air and swipe samples. Overall, it is a great experience and I am learning a lot.
